A 2013 Dodge Dart with the new dual-clutch transmission at Chrysler's Chelsea proving grounds. The dual-clutch was surprisingly smooth, and, aside from shifting almost imperceptibly, felt like a standard automatic, complete with normal-feeling coasting. Using the electronic range select (gear up/down buttons) resulted in nearly instant, and still very smooth, shifts. We tried to trip up the system, with numerous trick that normally fool cars into a “bump-shift” or paralyze their computers; the Dart reacted quickly and smoothly to each situation. This is a dual-clutch automatic which, unlike some competitors' units, will not surprise or dismay drivers new to the technology (or, for that matter, the uncaring "point A to point B" driver who just wants an appliance.)
Dodge Dart 2013
The 2013 Dodge Dart, Dodge took the upper-market Alfa Romeo Giulietta hatchback, widened, lengthened, and re-skinned it, converted it into a sedan, replaced the driver-facing systems with Chrysler ones, retuned the suspension, and put in their own engines.
