Official: Ford Fiesta Facelift Gets 1.0-liter EcoBoost Engine, SYNC Multimedia and MyKey


With the first images of the redesigned Ford Fiesta out in the open, Ford today disclosed official details about what’s under the skin of its B-segment competitor in advance of its debut at the “Go Further” product event that will be held in Amsterdam this Thursday.

The most important change for the European-market Fiesta is the addition of the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine in its line-up. The three-cylinder unit, which has won the “2012 International Engine of the Year” award, is claimed to offer “best-in-class” fuel economy.

Ford Grafts an Aston Martin-esque Front Grille to 2013 Fiesta Facelift


With several European carmakers having presented new offerings in the supermini segment such as the Renault Clio and the Peugeot 208, Ford decided it was time for a styling refresh for its sixth generation Fiesta subcompact that was introduced in 2008 (North American sales started in 2010).

Slated to debut at the 2012 Paris Motor Show later this month, the revamped Fiesta in European guise adopts Ford's new Aston Martin-like grille that has trickled down from cars like the C-MAX Hybrid and the new Fusion / Mondeo.

Ford Still Believes in Fiesta Even Though U.S. Sales Drop 25%, Focus up 31%


American consumers may be shunning away from the Fiesta and turning to the Focus this year, but Ford does not intend to leave the sub compact segment.

In the first seven months of the year, Ford sold 35,385 Fiesta sedans and hatchbacks in the States, down 25.4 percent over the same period last year when it delivered 47,245 units, making it the least popular passenger car in its range (excluding the now discontinued Crown Victoria and the Police Interceptor).
