VW Scirocco GTS
Black and red stripes running along the boot, roof and bonnet evoke memories of racing cars from the Seventies and Eighties, while the bodykit features unique front and rear bumpers and chunkier side sills. Red wing mirrors, 18-inch ‘Thunder’ alloy wheels, a rear diffuser and a roof-spoiler taken from the Scirocco R add some extra aggression to the coupe’s design, and a GTS badge is added to the flanks.
On the inside, the GTS name is embossed onto a pair of scuff plates and stitched into the headrests. The gearlever is a classic golf ball design – normally reserved for the Golf GTI, but also a feature of the 1982 Scirocco GTS.
Also on VW’s stand at the Leipzig show was the Beetle Fender, a collaboration between VW and the iconic guitar and amplifier manufacturer. The special edition features a 400W Fender sound system with a 10-channel amplifier, a dashboard finished in two-tone ‘Sunburst’ wood and comes with three limited-edition guitar picks. You’ll be able to buy one in the first half of 2013, unfortunately though there are no plans to bring the Scirocco GTS to UK showrooms.
